Train passenger threatens others with his pet rat named Jerry, Massachusetts cops say

A man threatened passengers at a Massachusetts train station with his pet rat, and it wasn’t the first time, according to transit police.

The 57-year-old man who is “well-known” for causing “disturbances” with his rat was arrested around 4 p.m. on March 16 at the Oak Grove station in Malden, according to a tweet from the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Transit Police. Malden is just north of Boston.

The man was also drinking alcohol, being disorderly and refusing to leave the area, the tweet says.

The rat, named Jerry, was taken to animal control, according to the agency.

Twitter users appeared to be rooting for Jerry’s well-being.

“Please tell us Jerry is okay,” tweeted another user, Liz. “#freejerry”

“Jerry is cute,” wrote Twitter user Robin. “He is innocent! He needs a loving good home!”
