Frank Lloyd Wright’s ‘final’ design lists for $8.9M in Arizona. Look at the ‘sun house’
He is considered one of the most famous architects in the world and his name is easily recognized in real estate circles thanks to his undeniable style. And now, a home that is considered Frank Lloyd Wright’s “final” design is for sale in Phoenix for $8.95 million.
“The ‘Circular Sun House’ was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and was his final architectural design, and known as the Norman Lykes House, the listing describes on Zillow.com.
“Designed to blend in with the curves of the surrounding desert mountain,”it’s also “one of only 14 circular homes by the master architect.”
Features of the stunning three-bedrooms, three-bathroom home include:
Curved walls
“Sprawling spaces”
Swimming pool
Den
Library
While plenty of notable architects adopted Wright’s style, there is nothing quite like an authentic home by his hand since he “changed the way we build and live,” the Frank Lloyd Wright website says.
“The mission of an architect is to help people understand how to make life more beautiful, the world a better one for living in, and to give reason, rhyme, and meaning to life,” Wright once said.
The 3,095-square-foot home was featured on Friday Night Zillow, a Twitter segment run by Bloomberg reporter Steven Dennis, and needless to say, folks were obsessed with the “showstopper,” as Dennis called it.
“Our Showstopper for tonight’s #FridayNightZillow is the ‘Circular Sun House,’ Frank Lloyd Wright’s final design per the listing,” Dennis said. “Price INCREASE to $8.95M. (Ouch!). It’s great. You are buying it as a piece of art, not for the (square footage.)“
“I love this house. I love all the curves. But why a rectangular bathtub?” one person asked.
“Oh my god the furniture and built ins! It’s perfect,” another tweeted.
“Love it,” someone said.
