A North Carolina motorcyclist died after slamming into a car that was making an “unsafe U-turn,” officials said.

The motorcycle rider was traveling through Greensboro when police said an Acura was in front of him on Monday, Nov. 21. The car turned “where it was not legal or safe to do so” before the motorcycle ran into it, according to the Greensboro Police Department.

The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead from a crash-related injury. He was identified in a news release as 42-year-old Corey Andre Sparks of Greensboro.

The other driver — a 22-year-old Greensboro resident — went to the hospital for a minor injury.

Now, that driver is facing charges in the deadly crash. The woman was charged with “misdemeanor death by vehicle and making an unsafe U-turn,” according to police.

Speed and impairment aren’t suspected in the crash, which officers were called to at about 7 p.m. The incident was reported on West Gate City Boulevard near West Florida Street.

An investigation into the crash was ongoing as of Nov. 22.
