Len Goodman, one of the constants on “Dancing with the Stars” since the series first aired in 2005, has announced his retirement.

The show’s head judge said the Monday, Nov. 21, season finale will be his final episode. He shared the news “with a touch of sadness” during the Nov. 14 episode that aired on Disney+.

“I have been with the show since it started in 2005 and it has been a huge pleasure to be a part of such a wonderful show, but I have decided I’d like to spend more time with my grandchildren and family back in Britain,” Goodman said.

A biography for Goodman states he is well-respected within the dancing community, having “dedicated his entire adult life” to the craft.

Fellow judges Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli have also been with the show since its inception. They joined the crowd in a standing ovation for Goodman.

In an exclusive interview with People, Goodman said he is unsure if he will be replaced on the show.

“I will miss the California sunshine, working with my fellow judges and the camaraderie with everyone on the show,” the 78-year-old told People. “I’ll miss seeing the celebrities developing into dancers and I will miss being part of one of the most successful shows on TV.”

“Dancing with the Stars” host Tyra Banks referred to Goodman as “a living legend.”

Others shared the same sentiment, with many saying on social media that they were shocked by the announcement.

“Y’all I’m actually choked up. You’re grumpy sometimes, but you’re a legend Len Goodman,” one Twitter user said.

“He helped make the show what it is today along with Carrie Ann and Bruno,” a fan account for the show said on Twitter. “Hats off to Mr. Len Goodman for this amazing legacy on this show.”
