Cottage with a secret room for sale looks like something out of ‘Snow White.’ See why
A estate that looks like something pulled from the pages of a fairy tale is on the real estate market in upstate New York for $1.97 million.
And not only are folks drawn to its Disney movie appeal, but it also comes with a few surprises — including an interior that doesn’t match its exterior in a cool way.
And yes, it even has a secret room.
“Comprising 170-plus acres of former farmlands, this property with its hardwood forests, open meadows, streams and ponds was fashioned into a singularly unique Catskill Mountain retreat,” the listing on Zillow.com says of the bewitching Jefferson residence.
There are multiple buildings on the property, including its original farmhouse, dairy barn, studio building and the fairy tale-like cottage — which is its “statement” building on the estate.
The cottage appears to be almost two homes inside: with one side matching its charming exterior with its wood motif and the other side looking like a french chateau complete with extravagant chandeliers that contrast nicely with its beige and bright yellow walls.
Other features of the cottage include:
Large windows
Finished basement
“Secret room behind a bookcase”
Total, the property has four bedrooms, five bathrooms and 4,200 square feet.
The cottage itself caught the attention of Zillow Gone Wild, a popular Facebook page and Twitter account that highlight unique homes for sale, and fans were extremely enchanted by its Disney likeness.
“Is the roof made of candy? Did anyone check the oven for missing children? Namely, Hansel or Gretel?” one person asked.
“Snow White and the Dwarves lived there,” another remarked.
“But does it come with woodland creatures to tidy and cook for you?” someone responded.
“I didn’t know I wanted to be Snow White until right now,” one person said.
“I would take it in a heartbeat. If they leave the furniture so I didn’t have to figure out out how to move it upstairs,” another noted.
“It’s like my dream cottage from childhood where I would live with my best friends and nothing bad would ever happen,” someone said.
Jefferson is about 160 miles north of New York City.
