If you’re looking for pure and utter seclusion complete with a vast array of intoxicating sky views of the Lone Star State sky, this Airbnb near Big Bend in Terlingua is right up your alley.
For $132 a night, “Domeland,” a striking one-bedroom, half-bathroom (with an outhouse a few feet away) that was featured on HGTV’s “Mighty Tiny Houses” might be the perfect getaway.
“The dome rests in an isolated but easily accessible off-grid setting in one of the few remaining territories under a dark sky ordinance, which offers unmatched views of the night sky, and a completely unobstructed view of a horizon that delivers truly majestic sunrises and sunsets,” the listing on Airbnb describes.
“Though the dome is isolated, the entrance to Big Bend National Park is just a 25 minute drive and the historic Terlingua Ghost town about the same.”
The unique dome, run by solar power, has an almost perfect rating on Airbnb with a cluster of amazing reviews from guests.
“This was an amazing place to stay to enjoy the beauty of the Texas desert and mountains, especially in October!” one person said. “The Dome is extremely cozy, clean, and comfortable, with remoteness that offers serenity with incredible night sky views for stargazing, Texas sunsets and moon rises.”
“Recommend 100000%! Very secluded spiritual retreat, feels otherworldly,” another commented.
“Trevor’s (the Airbnb’s superhost) place was far better than we could have imagined,” someone gushed. “The perfect place off the grid with everything you need and close.”
