The sight of a landline phone — and the fact that it actually worked — had two girls in a frenzy of excitement on TikTok.

A mom filmed her daughters using a landline phone for the first time and got 1.9 million views on TikTok. Some viewers reflected on their own experience with landlines, and others were in stitches over the girls’ reactions.

“It actually works,” one of the girls tells her mom, who goes by Leah on TikTok.

“Yeah, it’s a real phone,” Leah responds. Her daughter excitedly dials Leah’s number, urging her to pick up.

When they hung up the phone, both girls were alarmed that the call was abruptly cut off. Leah’s older daughter is filming the phone in a Snapchat video on her cellphone.

“This is cool to see their excitement,” one person commented. “It’s crazy how the younger generation will never experience some of the things we grew up with.”

“Yes. The idea that you could slam the phone down was so exciting to her,” Leah answered.

“As old as (this) ... makes me feel, it’s still pretty cool seeing their reaction to trying out this ancient technology,” another commenter said.
