Amazon’s annual Prime Day event is back.
While inflation is hitting consumers hard around the world, the online mega-retailer’s sale is expected to be a massive retail event. In 2021, online sales during Prime Day exceeded $11 billion — 6.1% more than the previous year. As recently as 2021, Amazon has said it has more than 200 million Prime members worldwide.
When is Prime Day 2022?
Amazon’s biggest sale of the year will take place over two days: Tuesday, July 12 and Wednesday, July 13, 2022.
The 48-hour deals event starts at midnight PDT (3 a.m. EDT).

What is Amazon Prime Day?
Amazon offers deals every day, but in 2015 they launched a single-day sale called Prime Day, with promotions and deals only available to Amazon Prime subscribers.
That first Prime Day in 2015 was held to mark Amazon’s 20th anniversary. It quickly transformed into one of the biggest sale holidays of the year, often occurring long before Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
How many times a year is Prime Day?
Amazon’s annual Prime Day event only occurs once a year, typically during the summer. In recent years, Amazon has shifted Prime Day in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the return to July in 2022 signals a return to their “standardized approach,” according to NBC News.
How much does Amazon Prime cost?
An annual Prime membership costs $139/year, and the monthly Prime membership is $14.99/month. For annual memberships, Amazon charges upfront, and will automatically bill your account every 12 months for a renewal.
