Airline worker uses intercom to ask girlfriend to marry her on Pride-themed flight

Two Alaska Airlines employees rang in Pride Month on a flight from San Francisco to Los Angeles when they got engaged on the journey.

Veronica Rojas, a flight attendant for the airline, met Alejandra Moncayo, a pilot, on a 2020 flight, ABC 7 reported.

“I was just like, ‘Oh, wow, this girl, she’s perfect,’” Rojas told Alaska Airlines in a news release.

Two years later, Rojas had a vision for a mid-flight marriage proposal, Alaska Airlines said. Other staff were on board with the idea, and the moment unfolded on the airline’s “Fly with Pride” plane, adorned with rainbow lettering and pictures of colorful planes on the outside.

Rojas told Moncayo that the two of them were going on a quick trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles. But halfway through the flight, Rojas used the intercom to propose to Moncayo in both English and Spanish, the news release said.

And in a surprise twist, Moncayo revealed she had been planning to propose to Rojas on the very same day, the airline said.

When the plane arrived at its gate in Los Angeles, Moncayo asked Rojas the same question. The two fiancees celebrated their double proposal together at LAX, the release said.

“It’s awesome, I feel very, very loved today,” Moncayo said in the release.
