After the Wordle craze kicked off 2022, one thing was made clear — simple and free word games are currently a hit.

But Wordle, which revolves around one answer a day, poses a problem for those who are addicted to the game and want more. Luckily, there are a handful of Wordle spinoffs and copycats — each with a different theme but the same essential premise — that have cropped up since the original game took off.

Here are just some of the myriad of games similar to Wordle to try if you’ve already made your final guess of the day.

Worldle

Yes, there is an extra “L” in there. This geographically intense spinoff gives the player a shaded area of the world map and has them guess the country or territory. The game will then tells the player how far away from the actual area they are and which direction the right country is in. The player gets six guesses to get the correct country.

Poeltl

This one, named after San Antonio Spurs player Jakob Poeltl, takes inspiration from Worldle. Basketball fans are loving this version of the word game, which has fans guess the NBA player of the day. You get eight tries to guess the player. Once you guess one player, the game will show if the player guessed is in the right conference, on the right team or how their age and height relate to the correct player. If you get too stumped, you can even enable the game to show the silhouette of the NBA player’s headshot.

Taylordle

Paging all Swifties! This version is pretty similar to the original Wordle, save for one key detail — every word of the day has something to do with Taylor Swift, her music or the fandom. After just one week, the game passed over 1 million plays. Previous Taylordle answers range from “Jonas” to “Speak” to “Snake.”

Lewdle

Who would’ve thought a game dedicated to lewd words would see such a following? Lewdle has reached over 4 million players, the game says. Players can log on each day to see which five-letter lewd word will be the word of the day. It’s actually harder than you’d think — you can only guess inappropriate words, unless you turn on “sheltered mode,” so the typical Wordle five-letter words are off the table.

Octordle

Some players simply want to make Wordle even harder for themselves. If you’re one of those players, you might want to head to Octordle, which is essentially eight different Wordles played simultaneously. You get 13 guesses to identify the eight different words, which elevates the game to a different, more strategic level. Happy puzzling!

Absurdle

This game, described by its creator as an “adversarial variant” of Wordle, uses essentially the same word lists. However, there’s one major catch. The game does not want the player to win, so it starts eliminating potential words according to your first guess and allows the player to keep guessing until you narrow down the winning word. Basically, you will stumble upon the answer because you exhausted all other options.

Lordle of the Rings

Of course Tolkien fans have to get in on the fun too. Like Taylordle, Lordle of the Rings follows the same premise as the original game, but each word of the day is “in the main text of Lord of the Rings,” including names.
