Hikers in the Monolith Garden desert hills near Kingman discovered human remains Sunday, Jan. 16, Arizona police said.

Two hikers found the remains about a quarter-mile from an improved trail and notified police, the Kingman Police Department reported in a news release.

The remains “had been exposed to the weather for a significant time” but were identified as human in origin, police said.

The case is being investigated as a suspicious death. The remains do not appear to be related to any missing persons cases in Kingman in the past year, police said.
