‘Wandavision’ spinoff series starring Kathryn Hahn coming to Disney+. What to know
Rejoice, “Wandavision” fans — more is in store for one of the show’s beloved characters.
Kathryn Hahn, who played a supporting role as Agatha Harkness in the acclaimed 2021 series, will get a show of her own. A spinoff to “Wandavision” starring Hahn is now in development at Disney+, Variety reported Thursday.
Deadline also reported the news Thursday. Jac Schaeffer has been tapped to serve as a writer and executive producer for the show, according to Deadline. Schaeffer was the head writer for “Wandavision” and she also co-wrote the story for “Black Widow,” according to IMDb.
“Hahn would reprise the role of Agatha Harkness in the series, which is described by sources as a dark comedy, though exact plot details remain under wraps,” Variety reported.
Should the “Wandavision” spinoff get the green light, it will be the first of the Disney+ shows within the Marvel Cinematic Universe to spawn a new series. Other shows that have premiered this year on the streaming service include “Loki” and “Falcon and the Winter Solider.”
Hahn was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series for her role in “WandaVision.” The award went to Julianne Nicholson from “Mare of Easttown” — and many felt Hahn was robbed.
But the viral song she performed on the show, “Agatha All Along,” won the award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics at the Creative Arts Emmys. The song was used to reveal the true identity of Hahn’s character, who began the show as the neighbor of Wanda Maximoff and Vision.
Later this year, Hahn will star in “The Shrink Next Door” opposite Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd. The comedic actor is also known for her roles in “Parks and Recreation,” “Transparent” and “Crossing Jordan.”
