Attila the Hun’ appears in ad to vouch for Georgia senator’s conservative credentials
Georgia Senator Kelly Loeffler, who is running for Senate in Georgia’s special election, released a campaign ad featuring “Attila the Hun,” saying she’s more “conservative” than the ruler of the Hunnic Empire.
Loeffler’s advertisement, released on Monday, shows a two people comparing Loeffler’s record supporting President Donald Trump. “Yep, she’s more conservative than Attila the Hun,” one of them replied.
Attila was ruler of the Huns during the 5th century and led attacks against the Eastern Roman Empire, among others.
Conservatives have previously been compared to Attila the Hun. Joseph Coors, whose grandfather founded Coors Brewing Company in 1873, was described by his brother as “a little bit to the right of Attila the Hun,” The Guardian reported. Coors helped fund Ronald Reagan’s presidential campaign
The video shows a re-imagining of “Attila the Hun” responding to a scribe, who is writing down what the leader wants to accomplish.
“Fight China, got it,” the scribe said. He also lists “attack big government” and “eliminate the liberal scribes” as Attila’s demands before turning to the camera and saying, “uh oh.”
Then, the narrator said in a voice-over: “More conservative than Attila the Hun. Kelly Loeffler, 100% Trump voting record.”
Loeffler was appointed to replace former Sen. Johnny Isakson by Gov. Brian Kemp, Business Insider reported. Isakson resigned in Dec. 2019 and Loeffler is running in the Nov. 3 election to serve the rest of Isakson’s term.
The businesswoman will compete with candidates from all parties in the election and if no one gets a majority of the votes, there will be a runoff election on Jan. 5, according to the publication.
Loeffler has voted in line with Trump 100% of the time, according to FiveThirtyEight, an opinion poll analysis website that tracks politics, sports, and more.
Loeffler has tried to depict herself as the most conservative senator in the race, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. Loeffler is up against four-term congressmen and 19 other hopefuls.
On Friday, Loeffler was the first senator to say she wants Trump to fill the empty Supreme Court seat after Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death, The Hill reported.
Ginsburg, a member of the Supreme Court’s liberal wing, died on Friday at the age of 87 after suffering from pancreatic cancer. Her death leaves the court with a 5-3 conservative majority and gives Trump the opportunity to further reshape the high court.
“My prayers are with the Ginsburg family. Our country’s future is at stake @realDonaldTrump has every right to pick a new justice before the election. I look forward to supporting a strict constructionist who will protect the right to life & safeguard our conservative values,” Loeffler tweeted.
