McDonald’s rolling out first new nugget flavor in decades. Here’s when you can try them

There’s a new chicken nugget headed to McDonald’s — and it’s spicy.

McDonald’s announced Tuesday that it will be adding spicy chicken nuggets to its menu this fall.

It will be the first time the fast food giant has released a new chicken nugget flavor since 1983, the company said in a news release.

“As our customers have been asking for Spicy McNuggets for some time now, we couldn’t think of a better time to bring them to our menus,” Linda VanGosen, Vice President of Menu Innovation, said. “We can’t wait for McNuggets fans to get a taste of these new spicy options.”

The spicy nuggets will be available for a limited time beginning Sept. 16 at participating McDonald’s locations across the country.

The new nuggets are coated with a tempura breading featuring cayenne and chili peppers.

McDonald’s is also rolling out a new dipping sauce — Mighty Hot Sauce — which will be the hottest available at the restaurant chain. It features a “powerful blend” of crushed red peppers and chilis.

If your mouth needs a cool down after all that spice, McDonald’s is also adding a new Chips Ahoy! McFlurry to its dessert lineup, featuring vanilla soft serve ice cream, caramel drizzle and cookie pieces blended throughout the drink.

It will be available in snack and regular sizes for a limited time starting Sept. 16.
