Dramatic photos show tug-of-war on I-95 as trooper tries to save woman in Connecticut
A series of dramatic photos released by Connecticut State Police captured one trooper’s struggle to save a “distressed female” who was reportedly running among cars on Interstate 95.
The incident happened during the Wednesday morning rush hour, police said in a Facebook post.
In the photos, the trooper is seen engaged in a tug of war with the woman, pulling her by one arm toward the median as she struggled to break free back into traffic.
The photos appear to come from a body camera worn by another trooper, who stood 15 to 20 feet away in the same travel lane.
“State Police Troop F received numerous 911 calls reporting a female running across I-95,” police said.
“Fortunately, Lieutenant Colonel John Eckersley was traveling through the area on general patrol and able to ... step into the high speed travel lane and pull the erratic and distressed female out of harm’s way.”
One photo shows the moments after the rescue, with the trooper attempting to talk to the barefoot woman as she sat on a barrier separating travel lanes.
The woman was not identified and the department did not say if she was injured during the ordeal.
