Video: Shark swims frighteningly close to teen siblings snorkeling in Australia

What haunts many in their dreams just became a reality for siblings snorkeling in Australia.

A video shows Taia, 16, and her 13-year-old brother Baxter perusing the water’s surface Sunday in Bulli Beach, New South Wales just 150 meters from shore when their camera caught a glimpse of a large shark swimming directly toward them, according to Storyful.

Taia struggles to keep the camera steady as she and her brother frantically swim in the opposite direction, the video shows.

At one moment, the shark seems to be getting too close for comfort when Taia screams, scaring the shark away.

Meanwhile, Baxter kept his spear gun used for underwater fishing pointed toward the shark, but fortunately did not have to use it, Storyful reported.

Baxter’s twin brother, Jobi, “showed composure beyond his years to calm the other two down and assist in swimming them the 150 meters to shore and to safety,” their dad Scott Hanley told Storyful.

The teens’ mother, Cindy Hanley, took to Facebook to share the incident.

“It rattled them pretty badly as you could imagine but I’m sure they will be back out there soon,” Hanley wrote. “A little bit of celebrity status has helped them get over it.”
