Band-Aid introduces new line of bandages in racially diverse colors

Band-Aids won’t just match one skin color anymore, the company announced Wednesday.

The company will launch a range of bandages in light, medium and dark shades of brown and black that match different skin tones, according to a statement from Band-Aid.

“We are dedicated to inclusivity and providing the best healing solutions, better representing you,” Band-Aid said on Instagram.

The change comes as people across the nation are protesting and demanding change after the death of George Floyd, a black man who died after a Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds.

Bandages typically only matched white skin tones.

“We stand in solidarity with our black colleagues, collaborators and community in the fight against racism, violence and injustice,” Band-Aid said. “We are committed to taking actions to create tangible change for the black community.⁣”
