Curbside pickup to launch at Sam’s Club stores nationwide. Here’s when it starts
Sam’s Club members will soon be able to enjoy a contact-free experience as the club store launches curbside pickup nationwide.
The service, expected to hit all 597 stores by the end of June, will allow members to order online and pick up at the club without having to step foot in the warehouse, the company announced in a news release Thursday.
Sam’s Club joins a growing list of retailers offering a contactless, delivery-to-car service amid the COVID-19 crisis which, as of Thursday, June 11, has infected more than 2 million people in the U.S., according to Johns Hopkins University.
“While free Curbside Pickup is a new Plus member benefit, we recognize that all of our members are looking for contact-free shopping options as part of the current environment,” Sam’s Club COO Sam de la Rosa said in a statement. “Because of that, we’re going to temporarily make the service available for every member and do what we can to help them get the products they need, when and how they want them.”
The pickup service was previously piloted at 16 clubs and received rave reviews, according to the company.
Here’s how it works:
- After creating an account online, members can place orders on the Sam’s Club app or at samsclub.com. Items marked “Pick up in club” are eligible.
- Members can then create a shopping list, choose a pickup time and check out.
- Members can use one of the designated pickup spots when they arrive. A Sam’s Club associate will then load the items into their vehicle.
The club store said it will continue its Concierge Service for seniors and high-risk members on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Same-day pick-up is also available, the company said.
“As we continue to innovate to make the shopping experience better and faster for our members, we’re proud to be able to quickly implement and offer curbside pickup across the country, particularly during a time when they are searching for alternative ways to shop,” de la Rosa said in the statement.
