Nurse mapping ‘Boston Strong’ in marathon run misspells it. ‘Too late to start over.’

A nurse who missed out on running in her first Boston Marathon earlier this week crossed the proverbial finish line in her own 26.2-mile run this week, but the route she took may leave a lasting memory.

Attempting to spell with her route “Boston Strong” — the city’s rallying cry following the 2013 bombing at the marathon — she hilariously omitted a letter.

“Boston Strog,” Lindsay Devers’ route spelled.

She told CBC radio she was unaware of her error until she opened her running app when she was done with her solo race.

“Yes, I know I spelled ‘strong’ wrong but it was too late to start over,” Devers wrote on Instagram, laughing off the gaffe.

“Find your fire and do whatever it is that wakes you up, whatever it is that makes you feel alive. Do what inspires you, what moves you, what makes your heart race. Do the things that ignite passion into your bones, chase your dreams, follow your heart, capture the moments that take your breath away. Do not settle for mediocrity. Do what makes you happy. If there is something you want, go get it. If you have a dream, follow it. Do not let fear hold you back. Trust your instincts and believe in yourself, you are capable of more than you think. This is your now. This is your time. This is your life. And you only have one. Make it count.” -Bryan Anthonys .(yes, I know I spelled strong wrong but it was too late to start over ) . . #bostonmarathon #solobostonmarathon #bostonmarathoncovidedition #selfsupportedmarathon #unsupportedmarathon #marathon #bostonmarathontraining #run #running #bostonrunners #covid #seeyouinseptember #livelife #dreambig #bostonstrog #determination #perseverance #dedication #resilience #bostonstrong #garminforerunner945 #altra #altrarunning #mentaltoughness #nevergiveup #nathanvaporhowe #vaporhowe12l #mghanesthesia #mgh #mghcrnas

Devers, who is originally from Lexington and attended Lexington Catholic High School, is now a nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital.

She finished her marathon run with an 8 minute, 37-second pace, according to the photo she posted on Instagram. She ran her race Monday, the day the Boston Marathon would have been held had it not been postponed due to the coronavirus.

The 8-mile route she looped through Boston is one she designed on her own with hopes of spelling “Boston Strong,” according to the Boston Herald.

It may not have spelled exactly what she hoped, but the nurse is keeping a positive outlook on her marathon run.

“I think a lot of people are inspired by it. And a lot of people have had some really good laughs,” she told CBC Radio. “So I think it’s a great comic relief in this stressful period.”

Devers told the Boston Herald she still plans on running in the postponed Boston Marathon in September, despite it feeling “amazing” on her solo run.

“You don’t have anybody cheering for you, you don’t have the support of volunteers,” she told the Herald. “You’re out there carrying your own water, carrying your own gels. It’s all you and your own mental fortitude to push through. No one’s running with you, no one’s cheering you on. It’s all in your head to keep going.”
