Mike Love of The Beach Boys is selling this spectacular, resort-style San Diego estate
Mike Love, the legendary co-founder and lead vocalist of The Beach Boys, is selling his glamorous San Diego mansion for $8.65 million.
The 17,515-square-foot mansion sits on a hill overlooking the city, mountains and golf courses. Spanning 3.5 acres, the estate is considered to be one of the best plots in the gated community of Fairbanks Ranch, according to TopTenRealEstateDeals.com, which received permission to share photos of the home (see video above).
“Rarely does such a spectacular property become available in the exclusive guard gated community of Fairbanks Ranch in Rancho Santa Fe,” according to the official listing for the property.
There are eight ensuite bedrooms, nine baths, a chef’s eat-in kitchen and a formal living room with a fireplace that opens onto a large terrace. Through walls of glass, the master suite offers panoramic views. The foyer showcases two dual curving staircases that lead to the upper floors.
There is also a complete outdoor kitchen. The swimming pool encircles a fire pit and spa that is accessed by a bridge. The tropical grounds have a swim-up and tennis court, too.

In tune with his music, Love seems to like coastal property. In December, the Sacramento Bee wrote about a Santa Barbara oceanfront compound he once owned hitting the market for $14.95 million. Two years ago, he put his Pebble Beach home up for sale at $6.45 million, according to the Los Angeles Times.
A Coldwell Banker Global Luxury report listed San Diego County as one of the top four luxury markets in the nation, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. A key indicator is “prestige brand presence and a housing stock that prioritizes privacy, views and exclusivity,” the newspaper reported in an article about Love’s property.
