Terrifying video shows teens tossed around as Ohio school bus rolls over in crash
Ohio State Highway Patrol has released gut-wrenching video of the moment a school bus full of students overturned during a crash in December.
On Dec. 19, police say a Northern Local School District bus slammed into a 1996 Ford Mustang after the car’s driver ran a red light, WCMH reported.
The bus had 28 Sheridan High School students on board, according to WBNS.
A loud boom can be heard in the video before piercing screams as students grasp the seat backs in front of them. As the bus rolls, students are flung from their seats to the roof of the bus before it settles on its side.
After, students can be heard screaming for help as they attempt to pry themselves from the crinkled side of the bus and out of the wreckage.
Bus driver Danny Hupp, 74, and eight students were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, WCMH reported.
The Mustang’s driver sustained serious injuries and was also transported to a local hospital, according to WOIO.
Police say the driver had a suspended license at the time of the crash, according to WBNS. The outlet says records indicate the driver hasn’t had a valid license since 2000.
