Rapper JayDaYoungan accused of hitting pregnant woman was hiding in attic, TX cops say
A popular Louisiana rapper was arrested in Texas Thursday after being accused of assaulting a pregnant woman, according to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable.
Javorius Scott, who is known as JayDaYoungan, has been charged with assaulting a pregnant person and drug possession following his Thursday arrest, Harris County jail records show. The rapper with nearly 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify was found hiding in an attic when he was taken into custody, the constable said.
Details regarding the alleged assault were not provided by the constable.
Scott, a Louisiana native, was also found with oxycodone, promethazine, marijuana and several firearms, which were all seized, according to KHOU.
The constable posted a photo Thursday on Facebook of the rapper in handcuffs after authorities executed the felony warrant. KHOU said he was served a “family domestic abuse warrant.” He is currently being held on $20,000 bond, according to jail records.
Many people commented on social media for police to “Free JayDaYoungan.” Others were in disbelief he would allegedly assault a pregnant woman.
JayDaYoungan was arrested last year prior to the Rolling Loud Festival in Miami. He was a no-show at the festival after Gadsen County Sheriff’s Office found him to be in possession of 20 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and oxycodone, the Miami Herald reported.
The “23 Island” and “Elimination” singer saw his debut album, “Misunderstood,” peak at No. 20 on the Billboard U.S. Top Rap Albums chart last year.
He is slated to appear in court in Texas on Feb. 10., jail records show.
