Pro wrestlers don’t like Democrat comparing them with Trump: ‘We aren’t fake. TRUMP IS’
Three Democrats in the House of Representatives walked out during President Donald Trump’s State of the Union speech Tuesday night, and one found a way to offend pro wrestlers on his way out.
Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan tweeted just before 10 p.m. Eastern time: “I just walked out of the #StateOfTheUnion. I’ve had enough. It’s like watching professional wrestling. It’s all fake.”
But some wrestlers didn’t take too kindly to being compared to the president.
“We aren’t fake. TRUMP IS. We don’t deserve to be lumped into his category,” wrestler Gail Kim-Irvine replied.
House Democrats Seth Moulton of Massachusetts and Bill Pascrell of New Jersey also walked out of the speech.
“I left the #SOTU after Trump—a draft dodger who has mocked Sen. John McCain, Gold Star families, and soldiers with traumatic brain injury—started talking about the good he has done for our military,” Moulton tweeted.
Pascrell said, “I just walked out of the #StateOfTheUnion. I can’t stand a liar. This man’s presidency is a national tragedy.”
But it was Ryan’s pro-wrestling tweet that got the most attention.
“Don’t u dare bring me into this, Tim,” wrestler Effy Gibbes said on Twitter.
“As a fan of pro wrestling, politics & Congressman Ryan, I see many similarities between the jobs we so passionately do... such as; it’s only real when we win,” Nic Nemeth, also known as WWE’s Dolph Ziggler, tweeted.
