Wait, did a House impeachment manager just quote Dumbledore on the Senate floor?

Yes, you heard that right. A House of Representatives’ impeachment manager used a quote from the Harry Potter franchise to argue for President Donald Trump’s removal from office.

U.S. Rep. Jason Crow (D-Colo.) took inspiration from J.K. Rowling’s book, “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” during his closing arguments Monday.

“Hanging in my son’s room is a quote from Harry Potter. The quote is from Professor Dumbledore who said, ‘it is our choices that show who we truly are far more than our abilities,’” he said.

Dumbledore’s phrase came in the second Harry Potter book, when Harry asked the headmaster why he’d been placed in the house Gryffindor.

Crow quoted Dumbledore after saying “my wife and I try to teach our kids that what we can always control our choices.”

The Dumbledore quote certainly received mixed reaction on social media.

“Democrat Rep. Jason Crow citing the fictional literary work of Harry Potter and Albus Dumbledore on the floor of the Senate is the epitome of the #Resistance movement,” said Steve Guest, a GOP Rapid Response Director. “And it says even more about the Democrats’ impeachment case: their case is complete fiction.”

“Your words are officially taking down the corrupt #GOPCowards through an official government platform,” one woman tweeted to the “Harry Potter” author.
