Here’s how to see Oscar-nominated ‘Harriet’ for free in honor of Black History Month

In honor of Black History Month, 50 Regal theaters across the country will be offering free showings of the Harriet Tubman biopic, “Harriet.”

On Feb. 4 and Feb. 11, select Regal theaters — in association with Gofobo — will offer free showings of the Oscar-nominated film which debuted in November, the company said on its website.

There will be 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. showings on both days, according to Gofobo.

“Harriet” tells the tale of Civil War abolitionist Harriet Tubman who, after escaping slavery, helped others defect from the South via the Underground Railroad — a web of safe houses, USA Today reported.

Tubman is played by Cynthia Erivo, 33, who nabbed Academy Award nominations for Best Actress as well as Best Original Song, Deadline Hollywood reported.

“I hope that people can take away the fact that that someone who was doubted, someone who was small, somebody who had very little means, was able to achieve something almost impossible,” Erivo told the outlet.

The film, rated PG-13, was directed by Kasi Lemmons and also features performances by Hamilton alum Leslie Odom Jr., singer-songwriter Janelle Monae and actor Joe Alwyn.

Locations showing the film include theaters in Austin, Charlotte, Fresno, Houston, Raleigh and Wichita, among others.
