A dog got off-leash and leaped into an icy river. Watch this cop dive in to the rescue
The aerial video shows a dog in the frigid, icy water of the Baltimore Harbor as police on land and in a rescue boat try to save the dog with ropes and poles.
The dog had gotten off-leash and jumped in the freezing river just after 4 p.m. Dec. 22, police said.
The dog is panicked, swimming along the dock and police can’t get a hold on it, the video shows. After trying to grab the dog, one police officer jumped into the water and helped get the dog closer to the boat so other cops could pull it aboard.
“One officer jumped into the water in an attempt to save the dog. With the assistance of officers onboard the marine unit, the dog was safely pulled from the water. One officer received minor injuries during the incident. The dog was not injured,” the Baltimore Police Department wrote on Facebook.
