The 5-year-old Gulf Breeze, Florida, girl who won the Internet’s heart during a short but valiant battle with cancer has died.
Braylynn Parker was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), an aggressive form of brain cancer, last month. Her mother Ally Parker says her daughter’s only major symptom was a lazy eye.
The child’s death comes only days after a photo of her in a bed at The Studer Family Children's Hospital at Sacred Heart in Pensacola went viral. Her grandfather Sean Peterson was crying by her bedside. Peterson suffers from ALS.

Soon after diagnosis, her mother told the “Today” show that Braylynn began to deteriorate.
In early January the girl was admitted, and doctors soon gave her grave news: “We were told (the first night in the hospital) that she had between 24 and 48 hours,” Parker said on the show. “The doctor who gave us that time frame came in later and told us she lifted the frame.”
A tribute from mom on Facebook on Monday read: “And though she be but little, she is fierce. Our sweet Braylynn, our warrior princess, earned her sparkly pink angel wings this evening. Her nickname was Princess Bel and she could light up any room.”
A GoFundMe site has been set up to help the family.
