A $50 Florida Lottery play in the Miami area turned into a $1 million winner

Dropping $50 on a Florida Lottery scratch-off game turned out to be a high risk-high reward play for a customer at a Homestead gas station.

South Miami-Dade’s Hector Anaya, Jr., 27, got a big return on his chancy investment at the RaceTrac at 3310 NE Eighth St. when he won one of the one-time $1 million second prizes in the $1,000,000 A Year For Life Spectacular game.

When Anaya claimed his prize at Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee, he chose the one-time, lump sum payment of $640,000.
