A Florida lottery player tried his luck on a scratch-off game and netted a life-changing prize.

Kenneth Somers, 65, of Jacksonville won a $1 million windfall on a 300X the Cash scratch-off ticket, according to the Florida Lottery.

Somers purchased the lucky ticket at a Publix on Beach Boulevard, officials said.

He claimed his prize Friday, Sept. 20, at the lottery’s Jacksonville office and opted for a lump sum payment, officials said in a news release.

Somers walked away with $695,500 after taxes. It’s not clear how he plans to spend his winnings.

The lucky player beat odds of 1 in 1,950,175 to win a $1 million prize, seven of which are still up for grabs, according to the Florida Lottery.

The Publix store on Beach Boulevard will receive a $2,000 commission for selling the winning ticket, officials said.
