The U.S. Border Patrol on Wednesday is investigating a suspected migrant landing in Bay Harbor Islands.

“Earlier this morning, U.S. Border Patrol agents along with state and federal partners responded to a report of a suspected maritime smuggling event in Miami, Florida. The event is still under investigation,” U.S. Customs and Border Protection Division Chief Adam Hoffner said in a statement.

The Border Patrol did not provide any details about the incident, which happened in Bay Harbor Islands, saying around noon that it was still under investigation. Bay Harbor Islands ,along the Broad Causeway, shares a border with Surfside and Bal Harbour, just to the east.

WSVN reported that the migrants were on a twin-engine outboard center console boat that arrived at a dock on a waterway behind East Bay Harbor Drive around 8:30 a.m. They then ran away, the station reported.
