Watch researchers steal hidden python eggs from an angry mother

Researchers with the University of Florida’s “Croc Docs” team surgically Implanted a tracker in a python that led them to a spoil island off of Everglades Holiday Park. Without the tracker, it’d be nearly impossible to find her hidden beneath the branches and dead leaves guarding her clutch.

Removing the eggs prevents dozens of Burmese python hatchlings from entering the Everglades and eating their way up the food chain.

By studying how Burmese pythons move, breed and choose nesting sites, the UF researchers are giving hunters better clues for tracking one of the Everglades’ most elusive predators.

At the end they released her. The tracker implanted inside her will eventually lead the team to more snakes. ``
