A student at Westland Hialeah high school was slashed on the chest and arm by another student after a fight in a bathroom, according to Miami-Dade Schools Police Chief Ian Moffett.

An 18-year-old student was transported to the hospital about noon Tuesday with wounds that were not life-threatening, Moffett said. A 15-year-old was arrested and may be charged with aggravated battery.

It’s unclear what kind of weapon was used in the fight, or what the two students were arguing over.

“It’s an isolated incident and we have the subject in custody,” Moffett said.

This is a breaking news story and it will be updated as more information becomes available.
