The question was simple: How likely would you be to recommend your employer to someone else?

The question, asked by the business magazine Forbes, went out to more than 30,000 employees across the country employed by businesses with more than 5,000 workers.

This week, Florida International University found out the answer. It ranked as the second-best employer in the state and the 34th best employer in the country, out of a list of 500. FIU was number 64 last year.

“Reaching this milestone two years in a row validates what FIU’s faculty and staff have known all along,” said FIU President Mark B. Rosenberg in a statement. “FIU is on this list because of the commitment to excellence that our faculty and staff members put in on a daily basis making our FIU a dynamic and desirable place to work.”

Other South Florida employers on the list included: Miami-Dade County (#48), Memorial Healthcare System in Hollywood (#88) and Ryder System (#136).
