Miami-Dade students transported to hospital after ingesting possible medicine, alcohol concoction

Seven students at Paul W. Bell Middle in west Miami-Dade County were transported to the hospital after ingesting an unknown substance that may have included medicine and alcohol, according to a school district spokesman.

It’s unclear how the substance made it to school grounds, or where the students ingested it.

“We are investigating that,” said spokesman John Schuster.

The students all went to the school clinic Tuesday afternoon after taking the substance, Schuster said. All were conscious and alert, albeit “impaired,” he said.

School police and paramedics were on the scene, and some parents were notified to pick up their children.
