Miami-Dade school board approves school calendar for the next two school years
The calendars for the next two school years were approved Wednesday at the Miami-Dade School Board Meeting. This is the first time the school district has approved calendars for two years in advance, which was done to help with planning.
The calendars were developed by the School Calendar Ad Hoc Committee, including representatives from the district, the union, and the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA).

Winter break is Dec 22-31, 2025 and spring break is March 23-27, 2026.
The first day of school for the 2026-2027 school year is Thursday, Aug 13, 2026 and the last day of school is June 3, 2027.
Winter break for that term is Dec. 24-31, 2026 and spring break is March 22-26, 2027.
Technical Colleges, Adult Education, and the Juvenile Justice Center each have their own respective calendars, which were also approved at Wednesday’s meeting.
Maurits Acosta, the student representative on the board, asked if in the future the committee could include a student representative.
“Our students are in the classroom every day and offer a unique perspective when it comes to shaping something like our school calendar,” said Acosta.
“We need to make sure we are really taking into account all stakeholders in our district.”
