UM fraternity shut down after explicit chant. What’s the internet saying about that?
A University of Miami fraternity was disbanded after a video of an off-campus pool party showed members chanting about having sex with a dead woman.
In the video, the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity brothers, who hosted the party, chanted to a sexually explicit song about a woman dying during oral sex: “We dig her up every now and then, yo-ho, yo-ho. We dig her up every now and then. We f----- her once we’ll f--- her again.”
As the news spread, thousands took to social media to share their thoughts. Most users made their disgust known as they weighed in.
Others pointed to the situation to show the prevalence of rape culture on college campuses. Some users said they believe all fraternities across the country should be shut down and families should raise their sons to be better.
However, not all expressed contempt for the frat bros. One user called the outrage “ridiculous.”
