Miami-Dade’s School Board re-elected its chair, Perla Tabares Hantman, and District 1 Board Member Steve Gallon III was re-elected vice chair, according to a school district press release.
This is Hantman’s 14th time (nonconsecutive) as chair since being elected to the School Board to represent District 4 in 1996. She is the first Hispanic woman to serve as chair, according to the district.
Gallon was first elected to the board in 2016. His colleagues have elected him as vice chair three times.
Broward County’s School Board elected District 6 Member Laurie Rich Levinson as its chair and District 2 Board Member Patricia Good as vice chair.
