A Miami school cop was shown on video threatening to shoot students. She’s on leave

A North Miami Senior High school resource officer has been placed on paid administrative leave after cell phone video showed her cussing out and threatening to shoot students.

The officer, identified by Miami-Dade School Police as Lorvia Paul, was recorded on a cell phone video Friday afternoon cursing at students while placing her hand on her gun. The video appears to show Paul apprehending a student outside the school.

“I’ll shoot all your a--,” Paul can be heard yelling on a low-quality video provided by Miami-Dade County Public Schools.

It’s unclear what led to Paul’s reaction. Miami-Dade Schools Police Chief Edwin Lopez said Paul never wrote up an incident report.

“That’s not the best judgment in the world, writing no report,” Lopez told the Miami Herald.

Paul was placed on administrative leave Monday. The case is being reviewed by the department’s internal affairs office for disciplinary action and the state attorney’s office for possible charges.

“Based on the evidence we saw in the video, it depicts language that is not in line with the core mission and values of our employees,” Lopez said. “We are reviewing the incident in its totality and interviewing potential witnesses to gather additional facts.”

Paul joined the force in 2015. Lopez said she was reprimanded last year for unauthorized use of her police vehicle.
