Scholarship fund launched in memory of teacher

A new scholarship fund named in memory a popular teacher is seeking contributions.

Mary Mann Pollard struggled to pay her way through college at Florida A&M in the 1960s, and went on to be Teacher of the Year at Carol City Middle School in 1994. She died in March at age 51, and her family has formed a scholarship fund to help other college students who need extra dollars for school.

The donations and scholarships are being handled by the Miami Foundation. To donate, click here. To apply for assistance through the foundation’s scholarship fund, click here.
