Wells Fargo donates $5,000 to Coral Gables Foundation’s scholarship fund
Wells Fargo donated $5,000 to the Coral Gables Community Foundation’s four-year scholarship fund during the foundation’s gala kickoff and benefactor reception.
The gala kickoff featured board members, gala sponsors, honorees and community leaders that came together to celebrate the successes of the foundation, and gave a preview of the upcoming Biltmore Ball on Oct. 20 at The Biltmore Hotel.

Homestead-Miami Speedway
Homestead-Miami Speedway and Ford Motor Company are teaming up to host the second annual Ford Girls’ Fast Track Races at noon Sunday at speedway’s Champions Club in Homestead.
More than 100 Girl Scouts from grades 2 to 5 will showcase their skills in science, technology, engineering, art and math by bringing their own, hand-crafted, wooden race cars to the test in a racing competition.
Trex Plastic Film Recycling Challenge
Trex Company, a manufacturer of recycled materials, will kick off the Trex Plastic Film Recycling Challenge on Nov. 15 in honor of America Recycles Day.
The challenge aims to encourage elementary, middle and high school students to compete against their peers to see who can collect and recycle the most polyethylene plastic, which includes common items like garbage bags, bubble wrap and cereal bags. The winning schools will be announced April 22, and will receive Trex products.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools
Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall of the Miami-Dade County School Board will receive the Zev Auerbach Community Service Award at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Hilton Miami Downtown Hotel, in Miami.
Bendross-Mindingall was selected for the award because of her dedication to serving the public and her contributions to the community.
