Hurricane Irma preparation and recovery kept Miami-Dade County students out of school for seven days.

The district’s first stab at making up for that lost time involves cutting two teacher workdays — on January 19 and April 20 — and changing three early release days to full days. The School Board will consider and possibly approve these changes at its Oct. 11 meeting.

The dates that would change are:

▪  Jan. 19, 2018 (previously a teacher planning day).

▪  Feb. 15, 2018 (previously a secondary early release day).

▪  April 19, 2018 (previously a secondary early release day).

▪  April 20, 2018 (previously a teacher planning day).

▪  May 17, 2018 (previously a secondary early release day).

Two dates alwo would be converted to regular school days on the Revised

Adult/Vocational Education School Calendar -- 2017-18. The impacted dates are:

▪  January 19, 2018 (previously a teacher planning day); and

▪  April 20, 2018 (previously a teacher planning day)
