Using a golf cart for a getaway vehicle may not be smart to begin with. But when it lands in a pond and you're caught red-handed?

Well, you just need to go back to burglar school.

Meet Michael Wayne Hawk. The Florida man is accused of breaking into a Lady Lake home and stealing a TV set and a set of house keys.

Cops found him after they found his golf cart in a pond, according to dailycommercial.com. Cops put two and two together after determining a home that backs up to the pond was burglarized, and spotted golf car tracks from the front yard.

When police visited Hawk’s home, they found a stolen TV set and some wet clothing.

Hawk, 46, was charged with burglary and grand theft.
