The workweek at Shell Lumber & Hardware began Monday with an armed robbery 90 minutes before opening. Miami police say the criminals made off with $11,000 cash.

General manager John Ruark was at his desk around 5:30 a.m. when the robbers burst into the office, police said. Enforcing their wishes with handguns, they made Ruark go into a back room and open the safe. Then they tied him up in the office.

The robbers left the store, 2733 SW 27th Ave., in a white four-door Nissan or Hyundai.

Miami Police Spokesman Freddie Cruz shows the surveillance video as he discusses the robbery of Shell Lumber & Hardware Monday, April 11, 2016.
