Miami-Dade detectives are asking the community for help in identifying and locating the person who shot a 16-year-old girl early Saturday morning in Southwest Dade.
According to police, Joena Riley was leaving a party at a banquet hall at 18901 SW 106th Ave. around 1:45 a.m. when she saw a group of people fighting in the parking lot. She walked past the melee to cross the street. As she was walking away, gunshots rang out, and she collapsed. She was hit in the hip.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue airlifted her to Kendall Regional Hospital in critical but stable condition, according to authorities.
Detectives are still investigating and looking for the person who pulled the trigger. A motive is unknown.
