Police are looking for a teen wanted in connection to a shooting at Miami Carol City Senior High.

The shooting happened Wednesday just as classes were ending for the day at the school at 3301 Miami Gardens Dr.

Police said someone fired at least eight shots into the school in a drive-by attack, hitting a window. No one was hurt.

“We were just out here talking and all of sudden we heard gunshots fire, ‘pop, pop.’ And like a bunch of kids that go to our school just start running toward this way for safety, I guess,” said Miami Carol City Senior High student Theodore Evans.

“This is the area, this is Miami Gardens, Carol City. You’re gonna expect that. They shoot,” said Chris Hall, also a student. “They put the school on code red.”

Miami-Dade Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho went to the campus where he spoke about the shooting.

“I think we avoided a tragedy in a very dramatic way. Around 2:59 p.m., a car traveling east, right in front of Carol City Senior High School, shot into the school, it appears. Not at the school, but it appears he was shooting at an individual who was walking in front of the school,” said Carvalho. “There are two bullets on the fence. Two bullets actually struck the hurricane-proof glass, shattered the glass, but did not penetrate the office. I said we avoided a tragedy because inside that office there were professionals, there were educators.”

On Wednesday night, the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department said they are looking for 19-year-old Stanley Ragin in connection to the shooting.

Police said Ragin has a violent history and should be considered armed and dangerous. Authorities added Ragin is a known gang member and there are active warrants for his arrest.
