You never know, say Miami-Dade police, when a bad guy might show up even while the good guys are around.

So Miami-Dade cops, who will take part in a multiagency training exercise at PortMiami on Friday, issued this warning to the public: Stay vigilant.

“We do not wish to alarm our visitors or residents,” a department spokeswoman said in a prepared statement emailed to dozens of media outlets. “However, we urge everyone not to discount any suspicious activity or incident as a training exercise.”

Police are urging PortMiami workers and the public to “say something if they see something” out of the ordinary.

“Our 911 operators are aware of the training and will be able to decipher between training and true emergencies,” wrote Miami-Dade police Detective Jennifer Capote.
