2 shot, 1 dead, in confrontation at Valero gas station near Little River
A man was shot and killed and another is in stable condition at the hospital after a shooting at a Valero gas station early Wednesday morning.
Police had released little information on the 2:30 a.m. confrontation, when most nearby residents were asleep and there was little traffic on the usually busy roadway that fronts the gas station. The area, just north of Little River, is a mix of residential and industrial.
The names of the dead and injured have not been released. And police released little information other than the shooter ran and hasn’t been found. Police spent Wednesday morning looking for surveillance video and gathering forensic evidence at the gas station at Northwest 103rd Street and 12th Avenue.
The men were shot while sitting on a small concrete walkway at the Valero on the northwest corner of the intersection. One man told reporters that the shooter also aimed his weapon at him, but that the gun had already been emptied of bullets when he fired.
