Homestead man arrested after doing donuts during intersection ‘takeovers,’ cops say
A Homestead man is accused of participating in three street “takeovers,” during which drivers block traffic and perform stunts, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
On July 5, there were three street takeovers between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. near Northwest 62nd Street and 32nd Avenue, Northwest 25th Street and 76th Avenue and Northwest 127th Street and 17th Avenue, the sheriff’s office said in an arrest affidavit.
During takeovers, drivers take control of intersections by using pedestrians and spectator vehicles as blockers to perform “reckless stunts” within the intersection, “dubbed the pit, while others run into the center to record the stunts for social media fame,” the affidavit said.
A detective identified Inaky Sesmas-Borrego, 22, who is accused of doing donuts in a purple Toyota Supra at one of the takeovers, the affidavit said. He was wearing a ski mask at the time.
After Sesmas-Borrego was arrested, he allegedly told a detective that he participated in all three takeovers, the affidavit said. There were around 50 to 60 cars and approximately 100 spectators at each location.
Sesmas-Borrego is accused of three counts of coordinated highway drag racing. He didn’t have an attorney listed yet, Miami-Dade court records show. He bonded out of Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
