A North Carolina man is charged with murdering his friend inside a Hollywood Airbnb Saturday, July 4, 2026, according to police.

A trip to South Florida ended with a murder investigation for a group of friends from North Carolina when one of them was shot dead Saturday inside the Hollywood Airbnb they rented, police said.

Detectives say 21-year-old Devian Blount fatally shot his friend, Jaydin Williams, also 21, during an argument at the house in the 1900 block of Funston Street shortly after midnight.

Williams’ girlfriend told police she was speaking with him on FaceTime when she heard Blount accuse him of stealing something when the friends were partying on a yacht in Miami hours earlier, according to Blount’s arrest report.

Right before the woman heard shots, Williams said, “Yo, chill, you’re drunk,” she told police, according to the report. The woman was the one who called 911, the report states.

Detectives booked Blount into Broward County jail later that day on a first-degree murder charge. His bond information was not immediately available, nor was information on his legal representation.

When officers arrived at the house, the door was closed, but they heard someone inside call for help. The door was unlocked, so the officers went inside and found Williams lying face down on a bed, shot several times. Williams was still alive, but died shortly after 2 a.m. at Memorial Regional Hospital, according to the report.

Police found several bullet casings and a bloody pair of khaki shorts in the hallway, the report states. They also saw smeared blood, indicating Williams was moved to the bedroom after he was shot, Detective Mitchell Del Castillo wrote in his report.

The report removed the names and number of friends staying at the vacation rental. But some of those people told detectives that the group partied on three yachts between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. with about 30 to 40 other people Friday in Miami. They did not notice Williams and Blount arguing.

One of the friends said Blount is known to carry a Glock 10 mm handgun, Del Castillo wrote. A bicyclist found the weapon on the sidewalk near Dixie Highway and Fletcher Street, according to the report.

While the rest of the group went to LIV Nightclub in Miami Beach to continue the party, Williams and Blount went back to the house in Hollywood, the report states.

While detectives continued their investigation at the scene, Blount approached the house around 7 a.m., and told them without being asked that his name was “Suave,” according to the report. He was shirtless and shoeless and wearing tan shorts, the report states.

He also told them, “We weren’t supposed to leave until tomorrow,” according to the report. A witness at the house identified him as Blount, Del Castillo wrote.

Although Blount was arrested, homicide detectives continue to investigate. They ask anyone with information to call the Hollywood Police Department at 954-764-4357, or email hollywoodpdtips@hollywood.org. Anonymous tips can also be sent to Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 or at browardcrimestoppers.org.
