Father and child shot at a Broward McDonald’s, cops say. Gunmen still out there
A Saturday afternoon family stop at McDonald’s ended with an 11-year-old girl and her father hospitalized with gunshot wounds, Hallandale Beach police said.
Police believe they caught stray gunshots around 1:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the McDonald’s at 835 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd. While the girl’s mother was inside picking up their order, Hallandale Beach captain Megan Jones told media that included Miami Herald news partner, CBSMiami, an unrelated group waited outside for someone to arrive at the restaurant.
Upon that person’s arrival, there was a confrontation that devolved into gunshots. Father and child were taken to a hospital in stable condition. The shooters absconded.
“We do believe one of the parties involved was a McDonald’s employee,” Jones said at the scene.
